Configure OAX with 4 Kontakt Inst. Banks

At this point we have pretty much beaten the topic of using Kontakt player, running as a VST on OAX, to death. Yes, there is more that can be done but we have covered the basics. At this point you should be able to get up and running if you have an interest in leveraging the hundreds (maybe thousands) of sample libraries that are available for Kontakt along with the sounds already in OAX.

Before we leave this topic we wanted to wrap things up showing four Kontakt banks mapped to Upper1, Upper2, Lower1 and Lower2. You are not limited to that config but we don’t feel that we would ever need more that 4 sounds at any one time. One thing we have noticed is we tend to layer less sounds than some other folks. Not right or wrong we just prefer to highlight various “solo” instruments. If we find that we would like more sounds we can certainly go back and build another Kontakt configuration and a matching OAX VST preset along with user sounds to support it. Well, that would be AFTER we write the check for additional memory! 🙂

Thanks for your patience as we fumbled along and figured out the needed pieces to get things up and running. We learned a ton and hopefully you have also. We are on the lookout for a new OAX version to come out any day now. After that we might go back and look at drawbar related VST’s and take another run at Hauptwerk now that we have a better understanding of how all the pieces fit together.
