Vintage Wersi!

Vintage Wersi Memories

Geoff just sent us a few vintage Wersi photos. Who remembers some of these models? We discovered Wersi in the early 1980’s and were simply “wow-ed” by the mighty Galaxy. We had a chance to play a Galaxy a few times.

Yeah, that’s me way back in 1983 taking a Galaxy for a test drive at the Wersi US distributor. As it turns out not long after our visit to Lancaster Pa. my dad purchased and built a Saturn. I started to build my own Saturn but once I had a chance to see and play a Delta, I abandoned the Saturn build and moved into the “digital age”. We haven’t looked back since.

Thanks Geoff for some great memories!

I built the portable Alpha in the 1980’s, and aside from a glitch on one circuit board that I had to return to the Lancaster, PA distributor for repair, the instrument worked perfectly, and its flexibility was much appreciated by myself and those who heard it. It survived a move to the Philippines in late 2002, but stopped cooperating a couple of years later. When I moved back to Canada in 2006, I left it there. Now I have to be content with a 1972 Yamaha B5CR spinet organ and a couple of portable keyboards. I actually wrote a programming user manual for the Alpha, but it was shelved by the Lancaster store and never printed.
