OAX 2.5 Music Archive

A quick look at the new Music Archive feature in OAX 2.5. A ton of presets that you should try out. Although they are named suggesting what song they were designed for you might find some nice sound combination that you can use on other songs. Have you tried any of them yet?

Hi I have just had a good play around with the Music Archive today.
To me it seems a bit useless, as far as I can work out you can only save one registration per tune, so what is the point of this. Most of us like to have preset registration changes in our arrangements.
    Comments Please.

I agree Ross – wouldn’t it be useful to be able to set up sounds on ST1-ST4 and save in a Music Archive preset.

I have not stumbled upon how to now engage the rhythm freeze function yet, but haven’t really looked for it either – only had 2 hours on the Wersi this week. I hope to get a couple of hours later today or tomorrow to have a play and maybe learn another song!

Ross – How ’bout this option? Save multiple presets in the Archive and name them something like:

        Moon River_1
        Moon River_2
        Moon River_3
        etc.

Perhaps not perfect but should allow you to change to multiple registrations within a tune.

I ran into an issue with Music archive: If I loaded a factory song and made changes the instrument volume settings then saved them back as a factory song but the organ froze up and had to be rebooted. I have not tried this again with version 2.50-01. Anyone else had this problem?
What has happened to the rhythm freeze function that was at the top of the screen, where has it gone has anyone found it?

      Hi Ross,

I took the factory Dancing Queen settings from Music Archive, changed all the sounds, removed Wersichord if it was on and changed volumes etc, and saved back as a user preset within Music Archive, and no issues here. I have only tried this under 2.50-01.

        Gidday Mark
I saved the changes back to the factory pre-set which it allowed me to do, then the organ locked up.
I have been out of action for the last week changing over my replacement pedal speaker enclosure that was incorrectly manufactured which I completed yesterday afternoon.

Have you found where the rhythm freeze function is now located?

        Hi Mark
No problem with the OAX freezing today since I downloaded 2.50-01

Yes it’s still there. You have to touch and hold for a few seconds and it will appear in place of the music archive.

Thanks Geoff, will give it a go when I next play – forgot all about it when I had a play earlier.

I have done a bit of playing with it Curt, the best bit is discovering which styles they have put with which song, as I had always struggled with a couple on there – Dancing Queen for example – I had never tried Disco Philly before, but works well.

Less happpy with the presets though, as I don’t like Wersivoice or auto bass, so have to turn those off each time.

However, what I have found really useful is now when saving a preset, you have he option of saving to a preset button, OR to Music Archive, which allows you to save a user version of the factory Music Archive and name it by song title.

I had the code for the Yamaha Style Convertor on Monday from Franz, and whilst I have activated, not had any time to try it yet, but hopefully will get some time tomorrow night or Sunday.

        Mark,

One thing that I noticed on the handful of presets I selected from the Archive was the use of Wersivoice. Like you, a feature I’ve used about five times in the past 30 years of owning various Wersi instruments. Not a complaint – Just something I don’t use much.

We are looking forward to a “Mark Concert” with some new Yamaha style. I think you find quite a few pop/modern/contemporary styles that will work well with the type of music you play.

Funny you should say that Curt, I heard a song on the radio I had not heard for a while, Fire and Rain (James Brown) and have just found the sheet music online, so if I get around to it I will buy that over the weekend and have a go at that.

There is a funny YouTube clip of James Brown on a US chat show saying that he has revamped it because he has experienced more things since he wrote it.
