Drawbar Reverb – Can it be Changed?

We received a note from Pascal this week. First, some great news. He just took delivery of his new OAX700 – Nice! He had a couple of questions and found one thing that I wasn’t aware of. Maybe I’m missing something, but I couldn’t find a way to change the reverb settings on the drawbars.

If you double-click on a sound, you get a screen similar to the one below where you can set various parameters. As you folks know, Hall1 and Hall2 equal the reverb settings.

Reverb Controllers

Check out the screen when you double-click on a drawbar sound. A majority of the settings are not available to customize.

No Reverb Controllers

So, what are we missing? Has anyone been able to modify the reverb on the drawbars, VB3 or OX7?

Early OAX instruments had the Freeverb VST effect installed which went between the VB3 and the outputs, check to see if this is still available as while not brilliant it should help. (The VB3 & Wersi Drawbars (Presumably OX7) are shown in the VST host as plug-ins so you should be able to add to them)

      Bill, Curt,

Sounds good to me, I would prefer the reverb plug-in to be installed in the Sonic PC. Have checked on the Web and freeverb is still out there.
I’ll be honest after crashing my sonic when installing the Wurlitzer VST, would prefer if Curt would maybe look into installing and testing etc. I am an Apple person and do not own a Windows PC other than my Sonic…..

Hmm – Gotta say I didn’t even think about routing to a VST for effects.

I’ll give it a go this weekend and report back. Undoubtedly should be part of the implementation of both the VB3 and OX7 in OAX as this may not be something for the faint of heart to implement.

To Bill’s comment. I do recall seeing Freeverb in the plugin directory, so maybe we can adjust there if we can access it in the routing between the drawbar VST’s and the outputs.

    Curt, Pascal,

The only way I can suggest to adjust reverb on drawbars is to separate the organ output and take it through an external reverb unit ( Lexicon or Cubase ) then maybe back through the input?? There are quite a few units on the market even spring reverbs to choose from. Bit busy at present but will try and get my old Cubase working and give it a go etc..
