Adding New Styles? How about a Ketron Audya5 ?

Ketron Audya5 Style Demo

It should be no secret by now that over on the IMMusic side of the house we are working with Ketron. We shared a number of videos with you on ways you can use a Ketron SD40 Arranger module with your Wersi to additional sounds and styles. We will have some additional SD40 sound and style demos coming out in a few weeks along with more “How-To” videos.ย We were lucky enough to get our hands on a Ketron Audya5 keyboard for a few days. Last night while we were poking around listening to some of the sounds and styles we hit record and ended up with this. Take a listen and let us know what you think?

If you like what you hear you can learn a little more about the Audya 5:

    Hi Curt!
I was wondering if you might have the style, MovieSwing1? It is a Yamaha style in my T5. I would love to have it for my Sonic.
    Thanks, Joann

The Sonic will accept T2 styles natively and you can download software here http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/ to convert a T5 format style into a T2 format style. (NOTE: Due to the differences between Tyros models some tweaking of the style will be required)
      Have fun

Hi Joann – I’ll take a look in a few days. Sadly our primary machine is down and we are waiting for parts to arrive. I’ll update this post sometime next week once we are 100% back online and let you know if that is one we have in our stash.

Hey Joann – I’m finally getting back online with my main machine. I do have that style. Give me another day or so to catch up, and I’ll send it to you.

Joann – check your email. I just sent you the style MovieSwing1.

It’s been quite some time since we released a Style Pack. If folks are interested please comment, and we will get another group of styles released.

          For sure , Curt.
You know very well how hard it is to find a style that would fit one melody without “destroying” its original atmosphere.

OK then. We will dust off another 25 styles and get them uploaded for all to try out and enjoy in the next few days. Like the other Style Packs, we will run through them one time on our sonic to ensure they play but will leave any volume level or instrument changes to you folks.

I’ll create a new post with links to the latest styles when they are ready to go.

    Hi Curt,
is the Ketron sounds and styles better than the Wersi the reason I ask is there has beena lot about the SD40 and recently the Audya 5 and playing them on the Wersi, I have just traded my Ketron Audya for a Wersi OAX 1 with a second keyboard and a 17 note pedal board maybe I should have kept my Ketron

      Hi Michael

Wersi OAX is an organ with arranger facilities, the Audya is an arranger keyboard that has organ sounds, and the playing technique for an organ is different to the playing technique of an arranger, thus the backing included is designed for its specific purpose, (Organ or Arranger) although OAX does allow Tyros 2 styles to be used without conversion to aid those who are transitioning from Arranger play to Organ play.

IF you want the best of both worlds, (So you can swap between one and the other or combine them) then adding an SD40 to OAX is the best way to go. (Turning an Audya into an organ while doable, is a complete pain, requiring massive work aroundโ€™s to get it to operate similar (But still some way off) to an organ)

Thanks for that info bill you mentioned the tyros 2, I also have a Tyros 5 and I personally think the sounds on the SD40 are marginally better than the Tyros 5 so I could well be replacing it with the SD40

          Hi Michael,

For what it’s worth, I have always played Tyros or PA4x together with Wersi Abacus
Duo Pro, since owning both the Ketron SD7 and SD40 module I am now a firm
covert to Ketron which leaves Yamaha and Korg standing, the build quality, both
being built on a metal chassis says a lot for a start, to say nothing of the sound and
styles, a fantastic instrument which should have more promotion than it has.

You will not be disappointed in Ketron products.

          Dave.

Interesting setup Michael. Which Audya did you have? Over on the other side of the house (IMMusic), we are a Ketron dealer so from time to time we share some things about using Ketron with a Wersi instrument. There are some Wersi owners already doing that so of some interest to those folks.

In the past, we have also shown ways to add/connect a Roland sound module and various VST’s (Hauptwerk, Kontakt, Orange Tree, Hammersmith) to a Wersi organ.

I’ll leave the final decision on sound quality and style selection to you folks. They (various brands) all have their pros and cons. We are just showing the possibilities of different ways to combine and share them and have fun. Well, it’s fun for us! ๐Ÿ™‚

        Hi Samuel
The Ketron I had was the Audya 76 note which came out after the ketron SD1 I believe.

    Hi Curt,
Astonishing sounds and styles. They modestly compete with our Sonic’s.
From time to time I am thinking of adding an SD40 to my Sonic.
Do you think this addition will give a significant result?

Only you can say Samuel โ€“ What is missing on your Wersi if anything and what do you think the SD40 would add?

We are using the SD40 in multiple ways. Sometimes with our Sonic and other times connected up to a MIDI controller keyboard and working with a DAW.

Back to my comment above โ€“ All about having fun and once in awhile we also make some music. ๐Ÿ™‚

        Hi Curt,
I have the pressentiment that the Ketron firm has styles more rich and sophisticated than the Sonic’s with STS better adapted. This pressentiment exist even for the sounds !
